Case study · Onyx Cleaning Solutions

A new cleaning company, ready on day one.

Shaun Thomson runs Onyx Facility Service, a building and estate assurance business. Onyx Cleaning Solutions is its new sister company: homes, offices, schools and care settings, from Thetford. It needed a name people would trust, a site that could take an enquiry from the first day, and prices worked out properly before anyone rang.

The signature piece

A window you can actually clean.

Every cleaning site says "sparkling". This one lets you do it. Halfway down the Onyx homepage is a pane of soapy glass with WIPE ME written in the bubbles. Move the mouse, or drag a thumb on a phone, and a lavender squeegee follows you, turning to face the way it travels and clearing a blade-wide strip with drips off the ends. The window here is the same one, so try it.

  • A meter counts how clean the glass is. At about 60% the rest clears with a burst of sparkle.
  • Behind the glass are Shaun's real prices: £20 an hour for homes with no minimum, deep cleans from £25 an hour, end of tenancy from £145.
  • The button underneath only becomes clickable once the glass is clean, and it goes straight to the price estimator.
  • "Clean it for me" and "Make it soapy again" buttons for keyboards and anyone who would rather not wipe.

Drawn live on a canvas in the browser, with no plugin and no video, so it costs the page almost nothing to load.

The real thing, running live. Go on, clean it.

Spotless, every time

Custom quotes

An enquiry in about a minute.

Cleaning is priced by the job, so the site's main job is getting a good enquiry: what needs doing, where and when. The old-style contact form asks for all of that at once and loses people. This one asks in three short steps, and every answer lands in Shaun's Wix dashboard in its own column, with an email to the team.

Step 2. About the jobTown or postcode, then property and timing as chips, filtered by the service picked.

Sent. What happens nextA squeegee wipes across the card and the next three steps play in, so nobody is left wondering.

Price estimator

The price before the phone call.

The question every cleaning enquiry starts with is "how much?". The estimator answers it: pick the clean, slide the bedrooms and bathrooms, add an oven or carpets, and a guide price comes back straight away, with the time on site and a monthly figure for regular cleans.

  • Built on the price list Shaun sent us, so the estimator, the service pages and Google all quote the same numbers.
  • "Send this for a firm price" fills in the quote form with everything already chosen and jumps to the last step.
  • Fixed-price cleans show "from", hourly cleans show a range. Offices and schools say "priced after a visit", because they are.

Coverage

Where they clean, drawn to scale.

A map drawn from real town coordinates: a soft glow around Thetford for home cleaning, a wider ring for commercial work, every town pinned. Google's own map loads only if the visitor asks for it, so the page sets no cookies until someone chooses to.

Everything else

What a new company needs on day one.

1. A name and a look

A logo package in the Onyx navy and lavender, signed off by Shaun before the site was started, and the domains set up and pointed. Lifestyle images made for every service, and the real team, with their own photos, on the About page.

2. A page for every kind of clean

Home, commercial, schools, care settings, specialist, end of tenancy and deep cleaning each have their own page with what is included, how pricing works and the questions people ask. Those are the searches a cleaning company is found on, so each one gets a page that can rank for it.

3. Prices on the page

One price list feeds the service pages, the homepage price strip, the estimator, the full price table and the structured data Google reads. Change a price once and it changes everywhere.

4. Fast, and private by default

Lighthouse mobile scored 98 on the home page and 99 on the areas page in the tests before launch. Nothing from Google loads until the visitor accepts the cookie banner, with Accept and Reject given equal weight.

5. Ready to be found

Search Console, a sitemap, schema for the business and every service, six blog posts, and the Wix settings checked so Google sees the full business name. Google had ten pages indexed within the first week.

What is still coming

The site is weeks old, so there are no ranking numbers worth showing yet, and we will not invent any. Reviews on Google and more blog posts come next. This page gets a results section at ninety days, counted the same way as our other case studies.

Why it keeps paying

A lead from Google is free. The next one is too.

Shaun paid once. The site is not a cost that stops when the invoice is paid, it is the one thing in the business that goes on bringing people in without being fed. Here is why, in three parts.

01

Free leads, for as long as the page ranks

An advert stops the moment the budget does. A page that ranks for "mobile hairdresser St Neots" sends the same people, for nothing, every day it stays there, and a well-built page stays there for years. The work is paid for once. Every click after that is a lead you did not buy.

This is the difference between renting attention and owning it. Ads have their place, we run them for clients, but the point of the site is that the searches people already make land on you without a bill attached.

02

It compounds, because Google remembers

Each service page earns its own searches. Each review makes the listing stronger. Each blog post answers one more question people type and links back to the booking page. None of it is undone by the next one; it stacks. A site that is six months old with thirty reviews and ten honest pages outranks a new one with the same prices, and the gap widens.

That is why the curve on the what-you-get page bends upward rather than running flat. HairBiba took ten perm bookings in a single month through the site. Nida Thai Massage went from no way to book online to ten plus a week. Neither number was there in week one, and neither has needed us to keep it there.

03

A new client is not one booking

The search brings someone in once. The business brings them back. A perm is redone every couple of months, a Profhilo course is two sessions and a top-up, a good fence gets the gate ordered and the neighbour asking who did it. So the value of one search result is a year of that client, plus the review and the referral, not the first invoice.

Which is the real sum behind "a website that pays for itself": one new client a month, each worth a year of bookings, from pages that cost nothing after the day they went live.

A salon client, found once, for "perm near me"

£100a visit, comes back every eight weeks

6 a yearin the first year

£600from one search result, before she tells a friend

A clinic client, found once, for "Profhilo Norwich"

£250a visit, books the two-session course, then the top-up

3 a yearin the first year

£750and leaves the review that brings the next one

A trade client, found once, for "fencing St Neots"

£420a visit, has the fence done, then the gate, then the neighbour asks

3 jobsin the first year

£1,500+from one page that ranked for one phrase
